A female worker has been off with depression and finds that her job no longer exists;  the boss is giving everyone a 1000 euro bonus instead of keeping her on.  She has the weekend to try to persuade her co-workers to relinquish this windfall to allow her to keep her job.   Marion Cotillard portrays the hope, energy and anguish required to undertake this task with aplomb.

The frères Dardenne who work out of Liège in Belgium have built themselves a niche in European cinema with dramatic works of social-realism.   The catalogue of work they have put together starts to resemble the Rougon Macquart series by Emile Zola in the 19th century in its rich variety.
