One of the successful feel-good films of the early 2000, Les choristes has remained a popular work to study.   The ever popular Gérard Jugnot plays the chief role of the melancholic Clément Mathieu who is just taking up his job as a new classroom supervisor (pion) in a school for maladjusted children in post war France.

Mathieu quickly realizes that he can use his music composing and teaching abilities to good effect when he catches the children mocking him in the dormitory.  Following auditions  a choir takes shape and he even finds a soprano with exceptional abilities.

Popular with students of all abilities this film has some interesting themes ot discuss.
